Woman Stabbed to Death, Man Found in Burning Car

CORPUS CHRISTI - A young woman died from what appear to be multiple stab wounds last night in Flour Bluff. Police believe her attacker is being treated for severe burns suffered in a car fire outside the Walmart on Greenwood Drive.

The medical examiner says Danait Kidane died from multiple stabbing injuries.The 23-year-old was found at a home on Ransom Island Drive just after 7 p.m. last night as officer were called for a car crash.


Police say they never found a crash scene but did find the woman with what appear to be stab wounds. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told police a gold Nissan Altima sped away from the crime scene. A little less than an hour later, the same type of car was set on fire outside the Walmart.

According to police, the driver suffered burns to the majority of his body. The car is registered to Mulugeta Tirfe of Corpus Christi. A spokesperson for Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio confirms Tirfe is in critical, but stable, condition as he's being treated for burns.
