HOUSTON – A passenger in a Yellow Cab was shot early Friday after refusing to give up his belongings during a robbery in northwest Harris County.
According to Houston police, the cab driver was picking up a customer at Pincay Oaks Drive shortly before 1 a.m. when an unknown man approached them, pointed a gun and demanded money. The cab driver handed over his money, cell phone and wallet, but the passenger refused and began to fight with the suspect.
That is when the suspect opened fire, shooting the passenger twice, before fleeing the scene.
The cab driver panicked and drove away from the scene with the bleeding passenger in the back seat. They eventually stopped at a Shell gas station on the Southwest Freeway at Chimney Rock to call for help.
The passenger was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in serious, but stable condition.
The case has been turned over to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies.
