Houston dad charged in beating death of 2-year-old son

Tyrone Jefferson
HOUSTON— A Houston dad has been charged with capital murder after his 2-year-old son was found beaten to death at a north Houston apartment Thursday afternoon.

The father, 24-year-old Tyrone Jefferson, was caring for his son at an apartment in the 16000 block of City View Place while the little’s boy mom was at work. Emergency crews were called to the unit around 1:30 p.m. and found the toddler with bruises all over his body. He died as a result of his injuries. Jefferson was taken in for questioning, but denied causing the boy’s death.

“I ain’t gonna beat my son. Ya’ll say I beat my son? I don’t beat my son. Whoop him with a belt? Saw me beating on him? Wow,” he said as he was being placed in the back of the squad car.
Jefferson continued proclaiming his innocence to the news cameras and, at one point, even put his bare feet on the window to show police didn’t give him time to put on his shoes.
When the mother arrived to the scene, she could be seen crying and squatting down to the ground after being told that her child was dead. Jefferson has been given no bond.
