AC Milan to play Chivas de Guadalajara at Houston, NRG Stadium in August

Mercurial Italian superstar Mario Balotelli's club team A.C. Milan will face renowned Mexican club Chivas de Guadalajara at NRG Stadium on Aug. 6.

Although Chivas hasn't been much of a power in recent years, the Goats and their All-Mexican squad remain one of the most popular clubs in North America and a tremendous draw whenever they play in the United States.

The 11-time Mexican league champions will step up in class against A.C. Milan, which will be on a preseason tour through the U.S.

With 18 Serie A titles and seven Champions League crowns, the Rossoneri are one of Italy's and Europe's most decorated clubs, rivaling Juventus as one of Italy's most popular teams.

Balotelli, who is arguably the top striker on the Italian national team, is A.C. Milan's biggest star. Japanese forward Keisuke Honda and French midfielder Jeremy Menez, who recently signed with the Rossoneri, are two of A.C. Milan's other top international stars.

Chivas defender/midfielder Carlos Salcido, who was one of Mexico's most decorated players in Europe from 2006 through 2012, is arguably Chivas' most renowned player even though his greatest years are behind him. Salcido recently participated in his third World Cup with the Mexican national team.

The Texans' Lone Star Sports and Entertainment, the Dynamo and Relevant Sports have partnered to promote the A.C. Milan-Chivas match, which will kick off at 8 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale Friday at 11 a.m., via Ticketmaster, Fiesta Supermarkets and via phone at 1-800-745-3000.
